The Kitchen Edit: Styles, Trends and Must-Have Appliances

With Christmas around the corner, is there a more important room in the house than the kitchen? We think not. We’ve had a mini speed date (of sorts!) with the creative brains behind some of our favourite kitchen brands. Each one with their own specific style and tips on creating the perfect kitchen.

The Modern Classic English Kitchen

The updated English kitchen is opitimised by Humphrey Munson. Simplicity, symmetry and perfect proportions ensure a classic contemporary feel for the client who wants a kitchen of superb quality that won’t date. The Felsted showroom is currently undergoing a serious extension which will showcase a bar, snug, various kitchen set ups, walk in day pantries and even a staff gym! We’re affectionately calling it the HM village. Well worth a visit!

Q: Colour palette of the moment
A: “We have our own muted and rich colour palette which we’ve developed with Mylands Paints. At the moment the charcoal grey “Top Hat” combined with our Smithfield Weathered Grey Oak is one of my favourites. Relaxing and calm but not too safe.”
Q: Material mix of the moment
A: “Smithfield Weathered Grey Oak, polished nickel handles and a natural stone floor.”
Q: Which appliance could you not live without
A: “Definitely the Quooker hot water tap! As a nation of tea drinkers it is a much used appliance!”
Q: Your must haves for the ultimate kitchen
A: “A day pantry, island or banquet seating and false chimney with antique splash back.”

The Eclectic Shaker

For those wanting a nod to a classic shaker style but looking for a more eclectic take, look no further than the South London based, Blakes London. Their client’s are looking for quality but are adventurous with a great sense of style. Jeremy and Jamie, Co-founders and Head Designers, are friendly and on hand to help their client’s push their briefs to create bold and expressive spaces.

Sleek and Contemporary

The Roundhouse client is design savvy and looking for understated, luxury design. Their kitchens are clean and elegant, often handleless, but far from clinical. A touch of British quirkiness and experimental materials ensure the creations are exciting with a real wow factor. The brand is underpinned by great customer service and a welcoming approach.
